About

Welcome to Prairie Spectrum.

This parent-run website was created for families and individuals affected by ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in the city Brandon and Westman area of Manitoba, Canada.  Its aim is to serve as a guide through what follows an ASD diagnosis and informing affected families of the options available in the area.

Being on the Spectrum isn’t easy. And it isn’t always beautiful. It’s an uphill-downhill journey where you can’t see around corners or know where you’re going to end up. Yet being on this journey doesn’t mean being alone and it is our greatest hope that anybody who joins us here will find something useful or relatable.

Please feel free to browse around the various pages we offer. Get to know what’s available in your neighbourhood through the lists of several local, community, government and public health resources and services. Have a heads up on what you could expect for every age of transition throughout the Spectrum. Share a smile, tears, a hug, laughs, or a full-on parental rant when reading the blog hosted by the website’s creator. Or see a unique perspective on a variety of health care, education, and parenting subjects faced by those who now find themselves living on the Spectrum.

Prairie Spectrum also promotes the advocacy for a stronger position in our communities and province of everyone on the Spectrum. We further wholeheartedly encourage any feedback, questions, collaboration, etc. from those who visit the site and wish to participate in our efforts, whether it is to communicate, advocate, educate, or support. We can be reached here; replies are typically within 3-5 business days (we are full time parents after all 😉).

Thank you for stopping by and we hope to see you again, and often.

With Warmest Regards,

Prairie Spectrum
