Here’s a handful of links that we think you’ll find useful. This isn’t a complete list; it’s only a few that we wanted to share with you for the soft launch. Keep checking back for more as we update the site. Thank you for your patience!

ASLHA (American Speech-Language Hearing Association) – This page has a great, uncomplicated guide on how to search the internet for health information and know how to navigate the sites that will provide you with accurate information versus the ones that just give you a lot of cheese or misinformation.

ADAPT Manitoba – ADAPT (Association for Developmental Autism Programs and Therapies) is a group of parents and professionals who support developmental therapies (RDI & DIR/Floortime). Their main page includes information on community events, links to books and resources, and a list of special needs parenting websites.

Autism Canada – Autism Canada is an organization that promotes research into ASD, conducts advocacy, provides information and referrals, and is developing professional training programs. Their home page includes their latest tweets, a national events calendar and a link to their newsletter.

Autism Junction (Canada) – Autism Junction is a comprehensive database of credible and reliable ASD-specific resources. The database is searchable and you can narrow down results to your city or postal code. Search for information on assistive technology, respite, academic supports, etc.

ASD Friendly – A fun online forum for ASD parents that’s great for days when you just need to vent. UK-based but has A TON of online-only content. You can chat with other parents about anything and everything, including ASD-related topics.

Autism Society Manitoba – Autism Society MB is an organization that promotes advocacy and awareness of ASD. They offer many different programs, including parent support groups, family events, peer and sibling programs and social skills programs. Membership is complimentary if your child has recently been diagnosed with ASD.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Manitoba (ASDMB) – ASDMB is a site dedicated to ASD-specific resources. Their main page includes contact information, FAQs and a calendar/events section.

ASDMB Searchable Resource Database – This resource database is run by ASDMB and includes a very comprehensive list of organizations, programs, services and support groups. The database is searchable.

Children’s disAbility Services – Includes information on who they are and what they do. Also included is information on how to apply for services, contact information and FAQs.

The Hanen Centre – The Hanen Centre is an organization that focuses on early language intervention for children with language delays. Their home page offers links to articles, newsletters and parent workshops.

Hanen Centre Autism Corner – Offers articles and tips on supporting a child with ASD. Also includes links on how to order guidebooks and DVDs for their parent programs, “More Than Words” and “TalkAbility”.

Hanen Centre Fun Activities – Printable articles on how to incorporate language skills into everyday activities like water play, playdough, and singing.

Inclusion Westman – Formerly known as Community Living Brandon, Inclusion Westman is an organization that advocates and promotes community inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. Their home page has links to their blog, upcoming events, and information on how to volunteer.

Ready Willing Able – A Canadian organization, with chapters in Manitoba, which helps connect persons with intellectual disabilities with jobs.

St.Amant Main – With links to news, events and a listing of services, including Autism Services.

St.Amant Autism Services – Includes information on the Early Learning Program, the School Age program, and Enhanced Consultative Services. Also has a list of resources, FAQs and a printable application.

SSCY (Specialized Services for Children & Youth) – Their main page offers a calendar of events, news, contact information and a link to online, free games designed by SSCY.

SSCY Family Resource Page – Lists several different conditions/disabilities on which you can find resources. Click on topics like autism, sensory integration issues, and child safety.

Westman Child Development Centre – WCDC’s Main Page has links to information on programs offered and their associated costs, latest news and contact information/hours.
